Labor trafficking is the recruitment, harboring, transportation, provision, or obtaining of a person for labor or services, through the use of force, fraud, or coercion for the purpose of subjection to involuntary servitude, peonage, debt bondage, or slavery.

Sex trafficking is the recruitment, harboring, transportation, provision, or obtaining of a person for the purpose of a commercial sex act, through the use of force, fraud, or coercion.

Under federal law, any person under age 18 induced into commercial sex is considered to be a victim of sex trafficking—regardless of any indicators of force, fraud, or coercion.
